Website aimed at highlighting Tucson’s Black Owned Businesses

Many Black-owned businesses in Tucson are often overlooked, and it’s rare to see Black-owned businesses receive recognition or support. A group of
Black business owners and creatives are aimed to change just that by creating a  webite to shine a spotlight on Tucson’s Black businesses. What started out as a google doc list, has now grown into the site: https://blaxfriday.com/

This site features a large variety of local businesses from Apparel, to the Food Industry and even Real Estate and Insurance.

This project was created by Ashley La Russa of Roux Events, Seanloui Dumas, Khailill Knight, Shannoah Green, and many others, to take away emphasis from using “Black” as a discount code via Black Friday.

In turn, they created BLAX Friday where people shop at Black-Owned Businesses. Not for a discount on Friday – but just because. Creators said many businesses have already been hit hard by COVID-19 and are already in need of help.
