When you're done picking produce, swing by the U of A's meat market!
There’s nothing quite like the taste of a fruit or vegetable picked straight from the vine.
That’s why the University of Arizona agricultural department is holding its first annual “U-Pick Greenhouse” event where guests can visit their greenhouses and buy produce straight off the vine!
Currently, the greenhouses grow tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce available for picking. Be quick though, the produce is first come, first serve.
The times and locations are as follows:
UA Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (1951 E. Roger Rd)
- Tuesday, June 4 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Saturday, June 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Tucson Village Farm (4210 N. Campbell Ave.)
- Tuesday, June 4 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
These locations only accept cash or check.
While this is the first event for consumers to purchase produce, the University also runs a butchery in which top-quality meats can be purchased. See the video above to take a look inside!
