Lights of the World festival is coming to Tucson for the first time this winter!
LIGHTS OF THE WORLD: PUTTING A MODERN SPIN ON LANTERN FESTIVALS
Lights of the World has been in Phoenix for the last few years, but you don’t need to travel up there this year! The largest light and lantern festival in North America will brighten the Tucson skies this year for the first time November 8 through January 2 at the Kino Sports Complex. Combining the age-old tradition of paper lanterns with cutting-edge technology and lights. The Lights of the World lantern displays extend from 18 to 60 feet, showcasing features of different cultures and civilizations around the globe. With over 6 million lights and 45 stunning displays, Lights of the World promises an unforgettable exploration of global cultures and cuisine. SOME OF THE DISPLAYS INCLUDE:
10,000 SCALED DRAGON
This majestic and breathtaking dragon stretches for 217 feet. This particular dragon’s body is made up of over 20,000 china plates, each carefully tied by hand to form the individual scales on its body. In China, the ancient dragon is a symbol for auspicious tidings and great fortune.
CANOPY OF LIGHT
The overhead light structure is filled with beautiful Asian-styled umbrellas decorated with flowers to create a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
The Animal Garden features a 13 foot tall display with African wildlife, ranging from the tallest giraffes to the tiniest meerkats.
Come one and all to race through this 164 foot long tunnel, as it will lead you to a new land of even more cheer and joy. It’s time to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with friends and family!

This amazing Stegosaurus is made of almost 10,000 recycled bottles, making it environmentally friendly and dazzling at the same time.

The T-Rex stands over 25 feet tall and is made of almost 10,000 recycled soda bottles. This giant isn’t only green in color; it’s also green towards the environment.
