The Iconic Breakfast Diner, Gus Balon’s will be celebrating their 55th anniversary this Thursday, November 19th. This award-wining all-American diner is known for their homemade cinnamon rolls, all-day breakfast, breads and pies in a friendly atmosphere with friendly prices.
On November 19, 1965, Gus and Kay Balon, opened the doors at 6027 east 22nd Street, where it still stands to this day. They’ve keep it in the the family, as the restaurant is owned and operated by Gus’ grandaughter Kelli & her husband Will. Kelli & Will are the third generation of family operating the restaurant; where they keep their authetic recipes from 1965 alive.
To celebrate the occasion, this Thursday, they’ll be offering a loaf of their homemade white bread for only $.90, with the purchase of a meal. They are also taking orders for their scratch-made pies for Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pies go for $11.69, while their Peacan will go for $17.99.
Each pie must be pre-paid to order and picked up on Wednesday, November 25 by 2 pm.
