How to Drink Gin Properly

Nate from the Independent Distillery shows us their 10 Botanical Gin and an easy recipe to truly enjoy gin

The Independent Distillery’s flagship spirit is their 10 Botanical Gin. (a.k.a. “The Blue Label”). It is a corn-based, New World gin, with a base spirit of 6 botanicals. This base is run through the stills a second time, accompanied by 4 additional botanicals: lemon, grapefruit, vanilla and lavender. The result is precisely the balanced, slightly dry, botanical-focused gin we were striving for, offering a pleasant, cocktail-friendly finish. Some of the drinks they recommend to truly enjoy the flavor of the gin include: Martini, Ramos Gin Fizz, Tom Collins, Gin & Tonic, and  the Bees Knees.

You could also try a few of their Smashes which include gin such as the Pepino Fresco and Cherry Limeade.  Smashes are made with your choice of spirit and fresh local produce, balanced with fresh squeezed juice and a splash of bubbles served in a LARGE mason jar.  The Pepino Fresco features  gin, cucumber, basil, lime, and soda; while the Cherry Limeade’s recipe includes gin, lime, house spifflicated cherries, and  soda.

Smashes are normally $12, but you can get them for ONLY $5, HERE

The other smashes on their menu are:

  • Southern Belle: Bourbon, strawberries and peaches, lemon, and soda
  • Super Saiyan: Rum, banana liqueur, orange juice, pineapple, and soda
  • The Monsoon: Independent Distillery Vodka, fresh blueberries, mint, house-made lemongrass vanilla bitters, and  soda.
  • Drunk in Love: rum, watermelon, basil, lime, and ginger ale

Smashes are normally $12, but you can get them for ONLY $5, HERE
