PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A local artist is taking her painting to new heights — literally. Leila Parnian has just completed her 230-foot-tall mural in downtown Phoenix, holding a record for the largest mural in Arizona!

Parnian, a multifaceted creative, completed the mural on the soon-to-open Saiya Apartment Building, near 1st Avenue and McKinley Street.

She freehanded the art, starting from the top and working her way down, while using an architectural scale suspended to the side of the high-rise on a swing stage —a metal platform powered by dual motors and steel cables.

Parnian says this mural took two months to complete with the help of two assistants. (Arizona's Family)

Parnian says this mural took two months to complete with the help of two assistants. They worked through the heat and a monsoon to finish the piece. She wants everyone looking at the mural to feel energized from its bright and bold colors.

“I just want people to dream bigger, and I want this to kind of be a reminder to everyone when they’re walking down of like ‘If she can do it, anyone can do it.’ I just want it to be a beacon of hope and truly inspiration for all creatives and artists and just anyone in general out there,” said Parnian.

Parnian’s creativity expands far beyond her murals. She also designs furniture, teaches art classes and DJs.
