TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Rocky Point is a popular vacation spot for many.
A new directive from Mexican immigration officials will require you to add another thing to your to-do list before visiting Mexico.
Starting in May, you will have to fill out a Multiple Immigration Form to enter Mexico. The form has been available for years, but Mexican immigration officials said they will start enforcing it in May.
If you’re visiting for less than a week, filling the form out is free. If you’re staying for more than that, you’ll need to pay a fee of $40 too.
Bernadette Nez is the general manager of a convenience store located in Why.

She often goes to Rocky Point with her colleagues and her daughter.
“It’s just like anywhere else in the world,” Nez told 13 News. “(In) any other country, it’s required. You’re visiting a different country.”
Since her business is on the way to Rocky Point, and just like others in the area, they rely heavily on tourists.
While Bernadette remains optimistic, she worries the form could bring potential impacts.
“If we don’t have that traffic flow and people coming in, that would obviously put a big dent for not only us but everyone else here,” Nez said.

Keith Allen, a permanent resident of Rocky Point for a decade, works in real estate. He thinks the new enforcement won’t have too much of an impact.
“It’s just those that come down for less than seven days, they won’t have to pay but yes they’ll have to get a piece of paperwork that will make them legal,” Allen said.
“It’s like when we cross the border over to the states, we have to stop and check in,” said Puerto Penasco’s Director of Tourism Romel Bustamante.
Bustamante hopes that the form requirement will not deter anyone from visiting.
“It’s a very simple thing to do, it’s nothing really crazy,” Bustamante added. “Rocky Point will always be and remain a great host. We have great people and great families.”
Regardless of where you plan on going in Mexico, even Nogales, you need to fill out the form.
You can either fill out the form in person at a Mexican port of entry with your travel documents, or you can fill the form online before your visit.
