CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — An East Valley staple is closing its doors after more than four decades in the community.
The original Serrano’s Mexican Restaurant on Arizona Avenue, next to Chandler City Hall, is up for sale.

According to a social media post by the restaurant operators, it’s the oldest family-owned business in downtown Chandler and the only location wholly owned by the restaurant. As the downtown area has changed over the years, business at that location has slowed, which is also one of the most expensive to run.
“While this marks the end of an era, we are grateful for the many years of memories we’ve made with the community in Chandler – from hosting wedding receptions and memorials to celebrating milestone birthdays and other special occasions,” Serrano’s wrote on its Facebook. “We are grateful to all of our customers and employees who have made the past 44 years in Chandler a blessing for our family. We would also be remiss not to mention our late parents, Ernie and Eva, who built this business and showed us firsthand the value of hard work.”
Serrano’s is best known for its classic Sonoran-style recipes and their “addictive” bean dip. Over the years, the restaurant has been awarded as one of the top Mexican restaurants in the East Valley and recognized for its strong community involvement.
