MUSIC:

CMA’s new Artist of the Year (2015) Cole Swindell brings his new album “All of it” to the AVA Amphitheater, Sunday at 7PM.

This clean-cut crooner showcases his third album, with heart-breaking and boot-stomping fun. You can get tickets here.

 

John Mellencamp at the TCC

John Mellencamp is on a cross country tour featuring the rock icon’s classics plus some new material. Sunday at 8PM at the Tucson Convention Center. “The John Mellencamp Show” will start promptly at 8pm and will not have an opening act.

Every ticket purchased online will receive a physical copy of Mellencamp’s forthcoming album “Other People’s Stuff” set for release on December 7th by Republic Records.

Tucson Premium Outlets Concert Series

This FREE concert features the Cochise County All Stars, this Saturday at 5-8PM. Their genre-defying style could easily feature a Hank Williams tune back to back with an obscure Latin rock instrumental followed by a jazz standard.

Tucson International Mariachi Conference and Fiesta Garibaldi

Tucson is host to the premier mariachi conference in the nation. Student groups from around the nation gather to learn, play, and compete. Thursday is the student competition, Friday is a concert of the featured maestros, and Saturday is 12 hours of mariachi, food, dancing, and drink.

This week, Vice Squad defends their home rink against Phoenix’s Arizona Roller Derby/ Bad News Bears. These are the toughest athletes on wheels, and you’re guaranteed to have a good time at the Tucson Indoor Sports Center.

DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun Exhibit: “Desert Blooms”

Don’t miss the Gallery in the Sun’s new exhibit – Desert Blooms.

The flora and fauna of the Sonoran desert in Spring are celebrated in “Desert Blooms”, a selection of 1950’s watercolors by Tucson artist Ted DeGrazia. These colorful and playful paintings of cactus flowers and desert critters will be on display at the Gallery in the Sun from February 1st 2019 through September 4th, 2019.

Sharks Take Over Flandrau

Turn your fears into fascination at Sharks: Magnificent and Misunderstood. Interactive displays lead you to the IMAX showing of Great White Shark. There’s an additional fee for the movie.

Ansel Adams: Examples

Taking the book as its’ template Ansel Adams: Examples draws upon the Center for Creative Photography’s collection of Adams’ work to realize the premise of “Examples” with original prints and archival materials. Paired with text from the book, written by Adams himself, the exhibition affords viewers and unprecedented opportunity to familiarize themselves with the intricacies of Adams’ work.

The exhibit runs until May 4 on the UA Campus.
